EXQ

EXQ, also known as EX-Q, is a Zimbabwean Urban Grooves artist. His real name is Enock Munhenga. He rises to prominence in 2000 with the single Musalala, also known as Salad, and becomes one of the best-known names in the genre as Urban Grooves gains popularity in Zimbabwe.

Career

After Musalala, he releases a series of singles including Pandakakuona, Ndichakutevera, Mazirudo and Tezvara varamba. Pandakakuona is released with Shame and Nathan. He also collaborates with other Urban Grooves artists including Roki, Tererai Mugwadi, Stunner and Extra Large.

In 2005, he releases his first album, Exquisite, which includes Mazirudo and Ndichakutevera. He later says he relocates overseas to work on his second album, Love is my Religion. The best-known track from that album is Pane Rudo, which features Oliver Mtukudzi. His discography also includes Grown and Sexy (2008), Mr Urban Grooves (2012) and Tseu Tseu (2018).

Awards and recognition

He receives the National Arts Merit Awards’ Best Video of the Year prize in 2005 for Ndichakutevera. He also receives the Zimbabwe Music Awards’ Best Afro-pop award in 2014.

Personal life

EXQ is the father of two children, Trey and Tiara. He was married to Irene Office and later separates from her.
