Exit Ten

Exit Ten is a UK alternative metal, melodic metalcore, metal and metalcore group. The band forms in Reading in 2000 as a metal covers act, with a line-up made up of the Steele brothers — Chris on drums, Stuart on guitar and James on bass — plus their friend Joe Ward on guitar. Ryan Redman joins as vocalist in 2003 after a lengthy audition process, and his emphasis on melodic singing rather than screamed vocals becomes a defining part of the band’s sound.

Early releases and live profile

In April 2004, the band records its self-titled EP at Criterion Studios in London with producer Mark Williams, who also works with Sikth, Oceansize and yourcodenameis:milo. The EP helps build Exit Ten’s reputation for live performances, and the band plays the NME stage at V Festival, supports Deftones and Avenged Sevenfold, and receives attention on Richard Branson’s reality TV show Richard Branson: Rebel Billionaire.

Albums and later work

Exit Ten records the mini-album This World They’ll Drown in 2006 with producer Andy Sneap, whose credits include Arch Enemy, Machine Head and Killswitch Engage. The release brings further press attention and leads to touring with bands including Every Time I Die. The band then develops a more hook-led prog, metal and rock sound before releasing Remember The Day in 2008, with the track “Warriors” issued as a single.

After headline touring across the UK and Europe in 2009 and 2010, Exit Ten plays the Jägermeister tour with Sylosis and The Defiled. At the end of 2010, the band records its second full-length album with Jon Mitchell at Outhouse Studios, a recording space associated with Enter Shikari, You Me At Six and Funeral For A Friend. Give Me Infinity appears in 2011.

Exit Ten also releases the New Sunset EP, which includes the title track, a cover of Soundgarden’s “Black Hole Sun” and two previously unreleased tracks.
