Exile The Traitor are a Scottish metal band that forms in 2011 in Glasgow. They play melodic black metal and are associated with melodic death metal and death metal. The band grows out of a focus on extreme and technical music, and their sound is shaped by influences including The Black Dahlia Murder and At the Gates.

They win Bloodstock Open Air’s Metal to the Masses competition in Glasgow in 2012, which brings them wider attention after only a few months together. The band also releases a three-track EP called Necrology, which helps establish them further in the scene.
