Estron

Estron is an electronic project associated with Geraint Ffrancon, the Welsh musician behind High Quality Recordings. The project is connected with ambient and electronica, and its first release, Y Crack Cymraeg (“The Welsh Crack”), is based on new interpretations of traditional Welsh folk melodies.

Releases and style

Y Crack Cymraeg is the only Estron release mentioned here. It takes Welsh folk material as its starting point and reworks it into electronic forms. The album is described by The Wire as “ultra-cool, idyllic electronica”.

Related work

Ffrancon also records under the names Stabmaster Vinyl, Blodyn Tatws and Ap Duw. In addition to Estron and his solo aliases, he takes part in collaborative projects including Seindorff and Les Idiots. He is also responsible for High Quality Recordings.

Further activity

Ffrancon is working on a second Estron album provisionally titled Radio Cymry.
