Eric The Red

Eric The Red is a hip-hop artist associated with the UK scene. He releases music on RLD Records and Lost Scroll Records, and is also known as Eric Lehtela.

Background and career

He is the brother of rapper Leaf Dog and producer Illinformed, and he often works with both of them. He builds his career around lyricism and an old-school hip-hop approach. In 2016 he releases the collaboration album Test Subjects with the Creatures Of Habit collective, which helps establish his profile.

Releases and labels

Caught Red Handed marks a new phase in his work and appears on his own independent label, Lost Scroll Records. It is the first release on that label, which he uses as the base for later projects.

Earlier work and influences

Before working under the Eric The Red name, he spends around five years in a band called Innate, which splits in 2004. After that, he begins writing his own music. He describes his music as experimental, and names Tom Waits among his inspirations.
