Equals

Equals is a London-based group active from 2014. The name is used by more than one act, including a London electronic duo and an instrumental post-rock band from Texas.

London duo

One line-up consists of James Low and Ade Omotayo. Omotayo has previously provided vocals for Amy Winehouse, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Kindness and Quincy Jones. Low comes to electronic music through collaborations with Ruckspin, the Leeds-based producer associated with Submotion Orchestra, and as part of Author on the dubstep label Tectonic. This version of Equals releases its debut EP, Single Soul, on Senseless Records in spring 2014. The EP includes the tracks Pyre, Trap and the Pyre, and a Xxxy remix of The Pyre. Black On Gold follows in February 2015.

Instrumental band

Another act called Equals is an instrumental post-rock band from San Marcos, Austin and Houston, Texas. Its line-up includes bassist Alex Guzman, drummer Matt Toman, keyboardist Logan Wexler, and guitarists Simon McDonald and Dylan Storey. The members meet in high school and college and begin playing in several different projects before writing and gigging around Central Texas for a year. Their self-titled debut EP is recorded by the band in homes and studios, with Alex Bhore of This Will Destroy You handling mixing and Alan Douches mastering. The five-song EP is made available for free.
