Envoys

Envoys are a Leeds-based UK instrumental rock group. They are a largely instrumental heavy rock quartet made up of guitars, bass and drums, with occasional vocal parts. The band includes former members of Brody and Cotheria, and forms in early 2011.

Style and influences

The group is usually described as post-rock and post-metal, although their sound is also connected with progressive metal, progressive rock and heavy experimental music. Their debut album, Violescent, shows a varied and evolving approach that goes beyond a single genre label. Their music draws on a wide range of heavy, experimental and progressive influences.

Releases

The band’s first self-titled demo appears in November 2011 and attracts favourable comparisons with Russian Circles, Pelican, Don Caballero and Cult of Luna. Their debut album, Violescent, follows after the group self-finances and records it between September 2012 and April 2013. It is pressed to vinyl after a pre-sale campaign.
