Entheogenic

Entheogenic is a French ambient, psybient and psychedelic group formed in 1999 by Helmut Glavar and Piers Oak-Rhind. The project begins when the two meet while working as VIPs for Emagic and as sound technicians in a recording studio in France.

Sound and style

Entheogenic crosses style boundaries and combines colouristic electronic textures with orchestral elements. Its music uses eastern and western vocals, tribal-sounding instruments and synthesizers, and often builds large soundscapes through effects and sonic experimentation. The group also makes extensive use of natural samples, including water, human voices and animal sounds, which contribute to its semi-classical feel.

Members

Helmut Glavar, born in Austria, works as a musician and songwriter and has been active since the early 1980s. He founds bands across styles including punk, funk, new wave and drum and bass. Piers Oak-Rhind, born in England, works as a sound designer, programmer and musician and has been active since the early 1990s. He studies guitar at the London School of Guitar.
