Enrique Iglesias

Enrique Miguel Iglesias Preysler is a Spanish singer and songwriter who begins his recording career in the mid-1990s on the Mexican label Fonovisa. He becomes the bestselling Spanish-language act of the decade and later crosses over successfully into the mainstream English-language market.

Recording career and labels

Iglesias signs a multi-album deal with Universal Music Group worth US$68 million, releasing Spanish-language music through Universal Music Latino and English-language releases through Interscope Records. In 2010, he parts with Interscope and signs with Republic Records, another Universal Music Group label, for bilingual albums. He leaves Universal Music Group in 2015 after more than a decade and then signs with Sony Music, with later albums issued by Sony Music Latin in Spanish and RCA Records in English.

Commercial success and chart records

He is one of the best-selling Latin music artists, with estimated sales of over 70 million records worldwide. He has five Billboard Hot 100 top-five singles, including two number ones. On Billboard’s Latin charts, he holds the record for the most number-one songs on Hot Latin Songs with 27, and on Latin Pop Airplay with 24. He also holds the number-one position on the Greatest of All-Latin Artists chart and has 14 number ones on Billboard’s dance charts, more than any other male artist.

Recognition and releases

Iglesias is often referred to as the King of Latin Pop. In October 2022, he is honoured with the Top Latin Artist of All Time award at the Latin Billboard Awards. Billboard magazine also names him the 14th most successful and top male dance club artist of all time in December 2016.
