Enemo J

Enemo J is a nu metal band that forms around 2000. The name comes from an adjusted title of a patriotic group, and the band is pronounced “eeneemo - jay”.

Line-up

The original line-up includes Craig on vocals and decks, Leroy on vocals, Bucky on bass, Dennis on drums and Bob on guitar. The later line-up changes to Craig and Adam on vocals, Simon on drums, Broady and Chris on guitar, and Bucky remaining on bass.

Early gigs and competition results

At its first gig, the band wins the first round of a battle of the bands in Tamworth and goes on to place third overall, as the only metal band in the top three. It also wins its home-town battle of the bands, places second in a Midlands final of Emergenza, and wins best guitarist there, receiving an Ernie Ball/Music Man sponsored guitar. The band also reaches the top bands of the Midlands in a competition run by Xposed magazine.

Recordings and releases

An early recording made at the Hive in Derby sells quickly. It includes the song “Influential Dropoutz”, which also appears on two compilation albums. The band later withdraws the early demo because of the recording quality and spends about a year arranging and hosting gigs to fund later recordings and albums. After raising nearly four thousand pounds, it enters the studio and works with producer Matt Ellis, who is recommended by Julie Weir and has produced bands including Number One Son.
