Enderby's Room

Enderby's Room is a London-based anti-folk group active since 2009. The line-up centres on Dan Mayfield, who performs guitar and ukulele, and the group also includes Emma Winston on harmonium and accordion, James Humphries on percussion and banjo, and Donal Sweeney on double bass.

The group works with delicate vocal harmonies, unusual instrumentation and narrative songwriting. Its sound is described as a form of indie folk, and its songs are noted for detailed arrangement and storytelling. One description compares the music to the melancholy of Low, while another places it within a broader search for new shapes in indie folk.

Enderby's Room is also associated with Folkroom Records, which describes the group as intricately woven and deeply affecting. The band is mentioned in connection with Indietracks Festival 2013, where its soft folk sound is singled out as one of the stronger performances of the weekend.
