Emma Gatrill

Emma Gatrill is a British multi-instrumentalist based in Brighton. She is primarily a harpist, clarinetist and singer, and her work sits within baroque pop, chamber pop, dream pop and singer-songwriter music.

Career

Her debut album, Chapter I, appears in 2012 and consists of harp songs performed with various members of the Willkommen Collective. Her second album, Cocoon, is released in 2017 on the Japanese label Flau.

Session work and collaborations

Gatrill records and tours widely as a session musician. She plays clarinet with Laura Marling’s band at Glastonbury’s Pyramid stage in 2011, performs UK festival dates with Broken Social Scene, and records a BBC Radio 6Music session with Samantha Crain and Willy Mason. She also tours with This Is The Kit, both as part of their horn section and as main support, and works with Sons of Noel and Adrian, Matthew and the Atlas, Moulettes, Laish, Rachael Dadd and Rozi Plain.

Her additional credits include harp on Lucy Rose’s Something's Changing and vocals on Nick Cave & Warren Ellis’s soundtrack to the film Wind River. She also plays harp and clarinet on Alessi’s Ark’s 2011 album Time Travel.
