Emily Loizeau is a French singer-songwriter from Neuilly-sur-Seine, Paris, born in 1975. Her work sits within classic pop and rock and French song, and she is associated with chanson française and the nouvelle scène française.
She is the daughter of a British mother. Her music draws on French chanson, including the work of Jeanne Moreau, Serge Gainsbourg and Michel Legrand, as well as American singer-songwriters and artists such as Tom Waits and Randy Newman. She also names Georges Brassens, Bob Dylan and The Beatles among her main influences.
At the end of 2001, she decides to dedicate herself to singing.
