Emicida

Emicida is the stage name of Leandro Roque de Oliveira, a Brazilian rapper, singer, songwriter and MC from São Paulo. Born in 1985, he works in hip hop and is known for impromptu rhymes and battle performances, which help establish him as one of the most respected MCs in Brazil.

He is also regarded as one of the major underground hip hop revelations in Brazil. His battle videos attract thousands of views on his YouTube page, and his MySpace page has around 900,000 views.

Leandro Roque de Oliveira grows up in a poor family. At an early stage, he writes rhymes and gives them to a friend to record and sell. His father dies while he is still a child, a loss he later refers to in the song “Ooorra ...”.
