Emerald Sunday
Emerald Sunday are a five-piece indie rock band from Kirriemuir, Scotland. The line-up is Mike Martin on lead vocals, Alan Hunter on guitar and vocals, Matty Fleming on guitar, Craig Duncan on drums and Scott Crawford on bass guitar. The band forms in 2008 and changes singer in 2010.
Style and influences
Their sound draws on a wide set of influences, including Paul Weller, Arctic Monkeys, Queen, The Police, Iron Maiden, Oasis and The Beatles. The band presents this range as part of its own distinct style, with each member bringing a separate approach to the group’s music.
Activity and recording
Emerald Sunday play LiveFest at the O2 Arena in London in July 2011 as guests, following a live performance that leads to the invitation. They are also recording their debut album, Forbidden Sun, with sound engineer Mark Thomas. He has worked with Stereophonics, Muse and Oasis, and also on Lord of the Rings, and his experience is part of the band’s confidence in the recording process.
