Emalkay is a dubstep and electronic producer from Birmingham, United Kingdom. He first gains wider attention with support from Plastician, after which South London label Boka Records picks up his track Gut Feeling, which features warped future-bass drones and strings.
Releases on Boka Records
Emalkay’s early releases on Boka Records include the Testing The Waters EP, Monsters, and Mecha. Testing The Waters appears in October 2006, Monsters in June 2007, and Mecha in autumn 2007. Mecha helps establish his profile in dubstep and draws support from Mary Anne Hobbs and FreQ Nasty, along with other figures in the scene.
Subsequent releases
His final release for Boka Records is the reggae-influenced My Story, which appears in April 2008. In autumn 2008 he produces Explicit, a track that attracts interest from Benga and support from The Scratch Perverts and Chase and Status. After Caspa approaches him, the track is issued on Dub Police in February 2009.
