Ella Jones
Ella Jones is a singer-songwriter from Herefordshire. She starts playing piano at the age of four and singing at 10, and studies music at school to A-level. She writes and produces an early album, Planetella, at 18 using her father’s computer, pressing 200 copies for friends and family. Around the same period, she begins gigging widely in London, including at Jazz Cafe, Ronnie Scott’s, Rhythm Factory, 93 Feet East, Woody’s, Cobden Club, Spice of Life and Mau Mau.
Early releases and live work
In 2002, she co-produces a house track called “Summer Candy” with two friends and promotes it in London and Ibiza as a white-label release. She performs as part of that work at Red Cube in London, Kanya, Bar M and Sugar Sea in Ibiza. In 2003, she performs her own tracks in Ibiza at Guarana in Santa Eularia and the Mao Rooms in Ibiza Town, and also appears on Ibiza radio.
Recording and later projects
Jones then works with producers at Ice-PR, a management company, to develop her sound. She later works with Joe Barboza, also known as Donn Lo, and they record together at Club Ralph. She sets up Mamalou Records to release the album Be My Guest, which takes a year to complete. After that release, she makes the EP Berry Street, which is available on iTunes, and joins the band Brascoe.
