Eleanor Friedberger is an American musician from Oak Park, United States, born in 1976. She is best known as one half of the indie rock duo The Fiery Furnaces, which she forms with her older brother Matthew Friedberger.

With The Fiery Furnaces

In The Fiery Furnaces, Friedberger provides most of the vocals both on recordings and in live performances. The band sits within indie rock, with connections to alternative and rock.

Early background

Friedberger grows up singing with her grandmother, Olga Sarantos, and with her family in a Greek Orthodox Church, which forms part of her early musical background.

Solo work

Friedberger releases her first solo album, Last Summer, on Merge Records in 2011. She follows it with her second album, Personal Record, in 2013.
