Eden's Curse

Eden's Curse is a heavy metal group from Glasgow, United Kingdom, formed in 2006 by songwriter and bass player Paul Logue and vocalist Michael Eden. The project starts as a partnership between the two, with the aim of building a band around shared writing and performance rather than a single frontman-led vehicle.

Formation and line-up

After Logue and Eden begin developing material together, English drummer Pete Newdeck joins, followed by guitarist Thorsten Köhne. The line-up is completed in June 2006 when keyboard player Ferdy Doernberg comes in as a permanent member. The band’s early line-up also includes contributions from Carsten Lizard Schulz, who helps with songwriting, and from several guest vocalists on backing duties.

Michael Eden and Paul Logue co-write most of the album material, while Carsten Lizard Schulz contributes the song “Eyes Of The World”. Dennis Ward oversees mixing and mastering, and also records lead and backing vocals with Eden and Logue. Backing vocals also feature David Readman and Doogie White.

Recording and releases

The group records its debut album in South Germany in 2006. It later signs with AFM Records for European release, and also secures deals with Spiritual Beast for Japan, Dynamo Records for Latin America, and Metal Mayhem Music for North America. The band’s sound sits within heavy metal, with tags also placing it in hard rock, melodic metal and power metal.

Background

Logue previously plays with Cry Havoc. Thorsten Köhne has previously been in Demon Drive and Attack, and is also linked here with Code of Perfection. Ferdy Doernberg is known for work with Axel Rudi Pell, Uli Jon Roth and Rough Silk, and Pete Newdeck has played with the Steve Grimmett Band, Paul Dianno’s Killers and The Shock.
