Eddie Argos is a singer from Weymouth, United Kingdom, born in 1979. He moves to Poole, Dorset as a young child and later lives in Berlin. He is best known as the lead singer of the English rock band Art Brut.

Career

Argos fronts Art Brut and is also involved in several other projects, including Glam Chops, The Art Goblins, Everybody Was in the French Resistance… Now!, The Black Arts, and Keith Top of the Pops & His Minor UK Indie Celebrity All-Star Backing Band. In Keith TOTP, he sometimes plays bass guitar.

He also leads Everybody Was in the French Resistance… Now!, a project with multi-instrumentalist Dyan Valdes of The Blood Arm. In that act, the two write songs that respond to pop songs. Their album Fixin' the Charts, Volume 1 is recorded in Joshua Tree in summer 2008.

Writing and performance style

Argos is known for his spoken and humorous lyrics, which often focus on his family, moments of embarrassment, and past love interests. He usually writes them while on long walks and often on his phone, sometimes while drunk.

His stage performances are also noted for their theatrical character. He has used a vacuum on stage, skipped with his microphone wire, escaped from a sack, danced with the audience, and interrupted songs mid-performance to talk to the crowd.
