Ed Maverick
Ed Maverick is the professional name of Eduardo Hernández Saucedo, a Mexican folk singer-songwriter from Delicias, Mexico, born in 2001. He teaches himself guitar and begins writing songs in 2017, while living in Chihuahua. His first guitar song is “Simple as this” by Jake Bugg.
Career and style
Maverick becomes known through the sharing of his songs on social media platforms. His work is associated with folk, indie, bedroom folk and curifeo. He cites Dromedarios Mágicos, Juan Cirerol and Little Jesus among his influences.
Recordings and recognition
In 2018, Universal Music Group signs him and he releases Mix pa' llorar en tu cuarto, his debut album. The record includes “Fuentes de Ortiz”, described as the second song he writes and the track that brings him wider attention. In 2019 he releases Transiciones, also on Universal Music Group. He also becomes one of the most viral artists on Spotify that year.
In the same period, he performs at the Lunario del Auditorio Nacional and the Teatro Metropolitan. At Teatro Metropolitan, he sets a record for selling out concert dates faster than any other Mexican artist. He also receives an AMPROFON Gold Disc for Mix pa' llorar en tu cuarto.
