Easy Tiger

Easy Tiger is a rock band from Pennsylvania in the United States. The name is also used by other groups, including an Indonesian pop rock band, a Swiss band made up of former members of Melatonin, and a British rock and roll band based in Oxford.

American group

The American Easy Tiger begins as a singer-songwriter duo made up of Russell Baylin and Dan Wean, using two acoustic guitars and two voices. By 2001, the two musicians have been playing together in different bands and projects for seven years, and they decide to start a new project built around their more acoustic side. Although the new material is stripped down, it still aims for a heavier sound in rhythm, lyrics and melody.

For the debut album, Lonely in My Members Only, they work with producer Sean O’Keefe, whose credits include Fall Out Boy, Motion City Soundtrack and The Hush Sound. Their old friend Brian Barbier of Light FM plays bass, and Paul Knegten of Dearborn plays drums. The band continues playing live through 2003 while Russell and Dan write new songs for a follow-up release.

Indonesian group

Easy Tiger is also the name of an Indonesian pop rock band formed in the early 2010s by Adi Saptadi, Erick Sebastian, Armand Azhar and Aldy Abuthan. The group describes itself as a side project or fun project rather than a band formed out of a new musical direction, with the members saying their friendship is the main basis for the project.

Its line-up is Adi Saptadi on vocals and guitar, Erick Sebastian on bass, Armand Azhar on guitar, and Aldy Abuthan on drums and percussion. The name is taken from a song title, with “Easy” presented as something easily accepted and digested, and “Tiger” as something strong, fierce and independent.

The same name is also used by a Swiss band formed by former members of Melatonin, and by a British rock and roll band based in Oxford that is a regular act at Truck Festival.
