Earth Crisis

Earth Crisis is a hardcore punk and metalcore group from Syracuse, United States, active since 1989. The band is associated with the straight edge and vegan straight edge scenes and is widely identified as an important early influence on metalcore, although the band itself has described that label as an oversimplification of its sound and influences.

Line-up

The core line-up includes vocalist Karl Buechner, guitarist Scott Crouse, bassist Ian Edwards and drummer Dennis Merrick. Erick Edwards joins on third guitar in 1998. Other members across the group’s history include Kris Wiechmann, Ben Read, Mike Ricardi and Jim Winters.

Recordings and labels

Earth Crisis releases material through several labels, including Victory, Roadrunner, Century Media, Seventh Dagger, Bullet Tooth and Candlelight Records. Its studio albums include Destroy the Machines (1995), Gomorrah's Season Ends (1996), Breed the Killers (1998), Slither (2000), Last of the Sane (2001), To the Death (2009), Neutralize the Threat (2011) and Salvation of Innocents (2014).

The group’s early releases include the All Out War EP in 1992 and Firestorm in 1993. Later EPs include Forced to Kill and The Discipline. Earth Crisis also issues live and compilation releases such as The California Takeover, a split live album with Strife and Snapcase, The Oath That Keeps Me Free and Forever True 1991–2001.
