DYGL

DYGL is a Japanese indie rock group from Tokyo, active since 2012 and pronounced “day-glo”. The band’s name is an abbreviation of Day Glo The Band. It begins as a side project of members of Ykiki Beat, then develops into a main focus for the group from 2016 onwards.

Formation and members

The line-up includes Nobuki Akiyama on vocals and guitar, Yosuke Shimonaka on guitar, Yotaro Kachi on bass and Kohei Kamoto on drums. The verified membership also names 秋山信樹 and 下中洋介.

Releases

Before its debut album, the band releases two EPs, EP #1 and Don’t Know Where It Is. Its first LP is Say Goodbye to Memory Den.

Location and style

DYGL forms in Tokyo and is later based in London. Its sound is identified with indie rock, with tags associated with lo-fi, noise pop, garage rock and surf influences.
