DV8

DV8 is a name used by several different artists and groups across house, rock, punk, hardstyle, jungle and dubstep.

House

One DV8 alias belongs to Roger Sanchez, who releases deep house productions under that name.

Rock

Another DV8 is a rock band formed in 1980 in Newcastle, Australia. The group is one of Newcastle’s biggest bands until 1988, then takes a decade away before returning in 2000 to re-record its greatest hits. Its albums include Darby Street Blues and Stab in the Dark.

Hardstyle and punk

A further DV8 is a Dutch MC who performs lyrics for different hardstyle DJs. He is best known for a version of “Nothing Else Matters” made with DJ Zany.

There is also an early Chicago punk band under the same name. It records one 7-inch, “Guns on the Right,” before breaking up, and features a young Eric Spizer, who later becomes the drummer for Naked Raygun.

Other acts using the name

The name is also used by a Japanese jungle act related to サイケアウツ, and by a UK dubstep producer on Mutated Sounds who uses Synikal as an alter ego.
