Drunktank

Drunktank is a punk group from Den Haag in the Netherlands, active since 2003. It plays fast, melodic skate punk with singalong choruses and also draws on 1980s metal riffs and guitar harmonies. The band is identified as a Dutch skate punk act and sits within punk rock, melodic hardcore, and melodic punk territory.

Releases

Before its first full-length, Drunktank releases four EPs. Its debut album, The Infamous Four, follows in 2010. The album is mixed and mastered by Jochem Jacobs of Textures at Split Second Studios. It contains ten fast, stripped-back tracks and first appears on labels in the Netherlands, Belgium, and Denmark. A Japan-only edition follows later with four bonus tracks. The record is also distributed internationally through several channels, including Funtime Distribution, Crucial Attack Distribution, Shield Recordings Distribution, CR Japan, and Interpunk.

Style and influences

The band’s sound is described as being in the line of 1990s skate punk associated with Epitaph, Fat Wreck Chords, and Burning Heart. Its stated influences include Lagwagon, Satanic Surfers, Pennywise, No Fun At All, Bigwig, Iron Maiden, and 3 Inches of Blood.

Live activity and associations

Drunktank tours in the Netherlands, Belgium, Luxembourg, France, Germany, and Denmark. It also supports a range of other punk and hardcore acts, including Lagwagon, Strung Out, Voodoo Glow Skulls, A Wilhelm Scream, Venerea, Belvedere, Streetlight Manifesto, This Is A Standoff, Burning Heads, Craig’s Brother, Misconduct, Mute, Atlas Losing Grip, Forus, and No Trigger.

The band works with Empty Bottle Records in the Netherlands, Kickass Records in Belgium, 5ft Under Records in Denmark, and Milestone Sounds in Japan. It also appears on several compilations, including Kickass Records Samplers 2 and 3, Punkrock Generation 3, Next Generation, The LaserFM Blended compilation, Change The Station on White Russian Records, and Round and Round in Japan.
