Drums Of Death

Drums Of Death is the techno alter-ego of Colin Bailey. The project emerges with a focus on electronic dance music, with a sound that returns to house and techno roots and an emphasis on rhythm and percussion. It is known for energetic live performances and for remixes of artists including Hot Chip and Franz Ferdinand.

Releases and recognition

Drums Of Death releases the album Generation Hexed in 2010, which is described as critically acclaimed. It also releases the Black Waves EP on Civil Music, marking the first new work since that album. Earlier attention includes a nomination from DJ Magazine for Best New Producer. At one point, the project appears on the cover of IDJ Magazine following the release of a song-based album.

Remixes and related work

The project’s official remix work includes tracks for Tricky, Lennie Di Ice, Kotchy, Tommy Sparks, James Yuill, Drop The Lime, Mika, Franz Ferdinand, Alphabeat and Hot Chip. These remixes appear on labels including Domino, Y4K, Civil Music, Island Records, Moshi Moshi, Trouble & Bass, Universal and DFA.

Additional release

Drums of Death is also the title of a one-off set of field recordings released on Tzadik, documenting a funeral procession in central Ghana.
