A project of recording engineer Jay Burnett ("Burzootie"), whose credits as an engineer include Planet Rock, The Beastie Boys, New Order and The Orb. There is a version of the Drum Machine record on Def Jam (DJ004, 1985), credited to MCA and Burzootie, and another version on his own label, Jayco.
Drum Machine is also the name of a novelty song side project of Asher Stuhlman, better known for his roles in local bands Five Zombies and The Floating Head Effect.
