Drowning Pool

Drowning Pool is a US alternative metal band from Dallas, Texas, formed in 1996 and active to the present. The band takes its name from the 1975 film The Drowning Pool. Its core lineup includes guitarist C.J. Pierce, drummer Mike Luce and bassist Stevie Benton, while the lead vocalist position changes over time.

History and lineup

The group’s original singer is Dave Williams, who dies in 2002. Jason Jones joins as vocalist in 2003 and records the album Desensitized in 2004 before leaving in 2005. Ryan McCombs, formerly of SOiL, then becomes the singer and records Full Circle in 2007 and Drowning Pool in 2010. He leaves in 2011 and is replaced by Jasen Moreno, who appears on Resilience in 2013, Hellelujah in 2016 and Strike a Nerve in 2022. Moreno leaves in 2023, after which McCombs returns as lead singer.

Releases

Drowning Pool releases its debut album, Sinner, in 2001. The band’s run of studio albums includes Desensitized, Full Circle, Drowning Pool, Resilience, Hellelujah and Strike a Nerve. Drowning Pool is the first time the group keeps the same singer for more than one studio release.
