Drive Like I Do
Drive Like I Do is a group from Wilmslow, United Kingdom, and it is the predecessor band for The 1975. It begins as a short-lived project formed in 2005 and remains active in the record of the group’s later history.
Formation and early activity
The band forms in February 2005, initially as an idea for a single show. Adam starts the project, and the group plays its first gig two days later at a MYB in Macclesfield, performing a set of covers. The gig is booked before the band has a drummer. After the performance is received well, all five members decide to continue seriously rather than treating it as a one-off appearance.
Writing and recordings
A few months after forming, the band, then known as Me and You vs Them, begins writing original songs. It records two four-track demos: one in July at the Cutting Rooms in Manchester, and another in Newcastle in October.
Membership and style
The group consists of George Daniel, Adam Hann, Matthew Healy and Ross MacDonald. Its listed styles include alternative pop, alternative rock, ambient pop, art pop, indie pop, indie rock, ambient, indie rock and post-hardcore.
