Drever McCusker Woomble

Drever McCusker Woomble is a Scottish folk and folk rock project made up of Kris Drever, John McCusker and Roddy Woomble. The trio combines three established musicians whose work spans folk, rock and related traditions.

Kris Drever

Kris Drever is Orkney-born and emerges from the late-1990s Edinburgh session scene. He plays with bands including Fine Friday and Session A9, and works as a sought-after accompanist with artists including Eddi Reader and Julie Fowlis.

John McCusker

John McCusker is a multi-instrumentalist, producer and composer from Bellshill near Glasgow, born in 1973. He starts on whistle at the age of five and takes up fiddle two years later. While still at high school, he forms his first band, Parcel O’Rogues. At 17, he joins Battlefield Band and stays for 11 years, touring widely and appearing on seven of the group’s albums. His later collaborations include work with artists such as Paul Weller, Patti Smith, Teenage Fanclub and Billy Connolly.

Roddy Woomble

Roddy Woomble is born in Ayrshire in 1976. He spends much of his childhood moving between France, England and America before settling in Carnoustie in Scotland. He is best known as the lead singer of Idlewild and also works as a solo folk artist. He moves to Edinburgh at 18 in 1995 to study photography, later lives in London, New York and Glasgow, and is based in the western isles.
