Dr. Cat, also known as Luca Gatti, is a composer, producer and DJ and a co-founder of Green Queen Music. He is a long-standing figure in London’s underground electronic music scene and works across dubstep, reggae, experimental and Balkan-influenced sounds.

Career

Dr. Cat works as a touring musician and studio producer, and he also contributes music to film soundtracks. He produces and remixes for a range of artists and appears on several compilations, including Claude Challe’s Music for our friends, Beginners guide to Buddha and Burlesque.

He collaborates with international artists including Gaudi, Z Star, General Levy, Spacepolice, JStar, Dj Pony and 99 Posse. He also works with Asian Dub Foundation and English National Opera on a West End show about the life of Colonel Gaddafi.

Releases and collaborations

His collaboration with JStar produces Dub Zealand, a selection of rare cuts from down under. His album A Jamaican in Cairo appears in the collections of DJs including David Rodigan and DJ Ritu, receives strong reviews and is nominated as one of the most original World/Reggae albums of 2010 on BBC Radio. His Balkan club remixes also feature on various compilations alongside artists such as Balkan Beat Box, Shantel, Riva Starr, Dunkelbunt and Boban & Marko Orkestar.
