Downswing

Downswing is a five-piece metalcore band from Albany, New York, active since 2016. They are associated with the metalcore, hardcore and post-hardcore scenes, and are linked to Albany’s hardcore community.

Formation and lineup

The group forms in early 2017 around guitarist Anthony Salvaggio, bassist Brandon Jared and drummer Nick Manzella, who previously play together in a metalcore band called Animal. They recruit vocalist Brett Colvin, who has spent nine years singing in pop-punk bands, and guitarist Chris Arnold, completing the lineup. The verified membership information also includes Harrison Seanor.

Early release

In March 2017, Downswing release a three-song demo called Swingstyle. The band’s early material reflects its move toward a heavier sound after the members decide to change musical direction from their previous projects.
