Downfall

Downfall is a 1990s hardcore band from Nottingham, UK. The band forms in 1993 and is originally an extreme-metal outfit from Somerset in south-west England before later being associated with hardcore and hatecore. It begins as a project from members of Somerset death metal band Embodiment, which runs from 1991 to 1993, and the name is chosen after research suggests that few other active bands use it at the time.

History and activity

Downfall self-releases a number of EPs over the years. Several of the band’s songs place highly on metal charts on MP3 sites including the original MP3.com, SoundClick and GarageBand. The group also supports Napalm Death, Dry Kill Logic, The Berzerker, Stampin’ Ground and Cloven Hoof, along with other underground metal acts.

The band ends in June 2009 after members form a side-project called Kinasis, which eventually replaces it. Downfall is also linked to a handful of releases and a wider underground metal and hardcore context in the UK.
