Double S is a grime MC from the United Kingdom, associated with North London and the Tottenham area in particular. He is part of the grime collective Marvell, which is associated with Alwayz Recordings.

Background

He grows up in the Northumberland Park residential area of Tottenham, North London. As a teenager, he visits pirate radio stations Axe FM and Heat FM, where he performs as a member of his former crew, Shoddy Crew. During summer 2004, he spends a year in Uganda and returns in 2005. He later says that the time in Uganda motivates him to do well.

Career

Double S is identified as one of the artists to watch in the grime scene in the March 2008 issue of RWD magazine. At that point, his single From Day, produced by True Tiger’s Misty Dubz, receives heavy play from major UK DJs including Cameo, Logan Sama, Semtex and Westwood. Other tracks associated with him include Hot on The Road, produced by Benga, and Mic Check, a freestyle over Kano’s release of the same name.
