Double Drop

Double Drop are a UK group active since 2010. They are a London-based live electronic and bass music act whose sound draws on trip-hop, jazz, hip-hop, dubstep and drum & bass. The group performs entirely live, without backing tracks, and uses real instruments to build its arrangements in real time.

Style and performance

The group is made up of seven musicians and includes a range of European players. Their performances are described as seamless, with tracks flowing into one another in a DJ-like way. Their music combines live drums, acoustic piano, synths, delays, vocals and saxophone, and is built to reflect the atmosphere of their live sets.

Career

Double Drop establish a reputation in London through performances at venues including Cargo, Brixton Jamm and Hootananny, as well as appearances at Lovebox. They also support acts such as Submotion Orchestra and Jazzsteppa early in their career.

Recordings

The group releases a debut EP in 2012. Across that release, they bring together elements of hip-hop, jazz, dubstep and drum & bass in a largely organic format, shaped by live instrumentation rather than computer-based production.
