Dot Rotten

Dot Rotten, also known as Zeph Ellis and earlier as Young Dot, is a British MC, rapper, singer, songwriter and record producer from London. Born Joseph Ellis-Stevenson in 1988, he is associated with grime and hip hop and comes from Lambeth in South London.

Career

Ellis-Stevenson first releases a series of independent mixtapes under the name Young Dot before later performing as Dot Rotten. He signs with Mercury Records and releases his debut studio album, Voices in My Head, in 2013. After leaving the label, he issues several independent EPs and other projects.

He later works primarily as a producer under the name Zeph Ellis. His work is linked with developments in grime production, including the use of sampling techniques and sung hooks in grime tracks, elements that appear across his recordings from his early material as Young Dot through to later releases as Zeph Ellis.
