Dorian Concept is the stage name of Oliver Thomas Johnson, an Austrian composer, producer and keyboard artist from Wien. Born in 1984, he adopts the name as a teenager, taking it from the Dorian scale.

Style and work

His music draws on a wide range of influences, including modal and free jazz, funk, hip-hop, electronic music, ambient music and soundscape-based approaches. He is associated with electronic, IDM, experimental and wonky styles, and is also linked with ambient, breakbeat, breaks, dance and electronica.

Band and collaborations

Johnson is a member of the Austrian funk band Jacob's Salty and Bamboozling Ladder, usually abbreviated to JSBL. He also tours periodically as a keyboard player for Flying Lotus, performing with Richard Spaven on drums, and he collaborates with the Cinematic Orchestra.
