DoppelgangeR

DoppelgangeR is a US goth rock group active since the 1990s and originally formed in Moscow in 1994. The band is associated with gothic rock, deathrock and post-punk, and its sound is described in terms of old-school gothic rock influences such as Joy Division and Siouxsie and the Banshees.

Formation and style

The group forms around frontman and bass player Dmitry Flo and goes through numerous line-ups. At different points it includes Black CaT on guitar and Maggoth on drums as a trio. Its music is built around expressive vocals, atmospheric guitar, prominent bass and heavy drums.

Recordings and releases

DoppelgangeR releases seven full-length albums: Doppelganger, Serpent's Land, ...Desire Lost Forever?, Dancing, Saturnian Rings, 12 Steps To Inhumanity and Voyage Of The Homeless Spies. It also releases a DVD bootleg, Creeper Fest-1. Butleg, and a limited box set, 15 Years.

Live work and recognition

The band has extensive live experience in Russia and Europe, with appearances at events including Music-Moscow-2004, Creeper Fest in Lithuania, Lumous Gothic Festival in Finland, Castle Party Festival in Poland, and a solo concert in Switzerland. It also plays concerts with bands such as Charon, Entwine, Two Witches and Garden of Delight, and appears on Russian television and radio programmes. Black CaT's photograph is chosen for the cover of Mick Mercer's book Music To Die For.
