Dominik Eulberg

Dominik Eulberg is an electronic music artist and DJ from Altenkirchen in the Westerwald region of Germany. Born in 1978, he works in minimal techno, techno and ambient, and releases music as both singles and full-length albums.

Career

Eulberg starts collecting records and learning to DJ at the age of 15, after an early interest in electronic music shaped by Sven Väth’s radio show Clubnights. In 1995 he buys his own equipment and begins performing as a live act. He later moves to Bonn, where he studies ecological geography.

He releases early material on Matthias Schaffhäuser’s label Ware and on Raum Music in Frankfurt. He then works with Riley Reinhold and Jaqueline Klein, leading to releases on Traum Schallplatten and Trapez. His first album, Flora and Fauna, appears on Trapez. Later releases follow on Platzhirsch Schallplatten and Cocoon Recordings.

Style and themes

Eulberg’s music draws heavily on nature. He treats nature as an important influence outside music as well, and he also works occasionally as a park ranger in German national parks. His tracks use sounds of animals and other natural elements to create an organic, vivid character, and his titles often reflect that approach, including Basstölpel.

Remixes and collaborations

He builds a reputation as a remixer and works on tracks by DJ Hell, Roman Flügel, Le Dust Sucker, Tiefschwarz, Einmusik and Nathan Fake. His collaboration with Gabriel Ananda is also part of his listed artist work.

Recognition

In 2004, Groove Magazine names him Newcomer of the Year and third-best producer. That same year, Flora and Fauna places third in a Raveline reader poll for albums and is also ranked fifth best album of the year by Groove and De:Bug. He is nominated for the German Dance Music Award in the categories Best Remix and Best Newcomer.

In 2005, Groove names him producer of the year and third-best national DJ. Five of his remixes appear in the magazine’s annual top 20. Raveline ranks him second-best remixer and newcomer, with his remix for Oliver Koletzki placed at number two, and also ranks him fourth-best act and fifth-best national DJ. In 2006, he receives further German Dance Music Award nominations for Best Producer and Best Remix.
