Does It Offend You, Yeah?
Does It Offend You, Yeah? is a British dance-punk group from Reading, England, active from 2006 to 2012. The group forms around James Rushent, and its line-up includes Morgan Quaintance, Chloe Dunford, Bobby Bloomfield, and Rushent. In earlier line-ups, the band includes Matty Derham on guitar and synthesizer, Dan Coop on synthesizer, and Rob Bloomfield on drums; Morgan Quaintance leaves the band in mid-2009.
Style and name
The band works in an electronic, alternative, and dance-punk style. Its name comes from a line spoken by David Brent in the British sitcom The Office, which also explains the repeated confusion around whether it is meant as a statement. The name is chosen when Rushent and Dan Coop begin putting music online and need a profile name.
Releases and recognition
The group releases its first album, You Have No Idea What You're Getting Yourself Into, in March 2008, followed by Don't Say We Didn't Warn You in March 2011. In 2008, the band ranks as the ninth most listened-to new band on Last.fm and appears in the best alternative music list on iTunes USA.
