Doc Martin

Doc Martin is a United States-based DJ and producer associated with house music, as well as tags including ska, pop, dance and IDM. He begins playing records in 1986 and becomes closely linked to the San Francisco club and warehouse scene, where his focus on house develops from the local funk and disco environment.

DJ style and reputation

He is an important figure in the development of the West Coast dance scene and is known for long-format sets that bring together different crowds and styles. His approach avoids narrow genre boundaries and mixes deep house, acid, funk, tribal and classic records in a single set while keeping a coherent flow. His performances are described as working across club settings, from small loft parties and warehouse events to larger venues.

Residencies and appearances

Doc Martin holds several residencies in New York and is the first West Coast DJ to do so. He plays at venues including Twilo in New York and Cream in Liverpool, and also appears at underground parties and loft events. He tours widely, with performances across England, New Zealand and other locations.

Production work

In addition to DJing, he works in the studio after moving to Los Angeles. His production and remix credits include work on projects by The Mighty Dub Katz for Nervous Records, along with original tracks for Moonshine, Shaboom, 99 North and Leaf Recordings.
