D*Minds

D*Minds, formerly known as Distorted Minds, is a Bristol drum and bass group active since 1997. The act consists of Jon Midwinter and Alistair Vickery, who work as producers and DJs. Their music is rooted in drum and bass and jungle, and they are associated with the Bristol scene in the United Kingdom.

Releases and labels

The duo releases on a range of labels, including True Playaz, Breakbeat Kaos, Formation, and their own D-Style Recordings. Tracks associated with these imprints include “Mr Happy”, “Super Drunk” with Hazard, “T-10”, “Snuff Baby”, “Warriors”, “Give It To Me”, and the D-Style releases “Ouch”, “Revolution” and “Searching”.

D*Minds also found D-Style Recordings and its sister label Stereotype in early 2000. Artists who release on the label include TC, Eddie K, MC Jakes and The Force.

Remixes and radio use

The group is also known for remixes, including a version of EZ Rollers’ “Crowd Rocker”. That remix is used as a sound bed on Zane Lowe’s BBC Radio 1 show.

Events

Alongside production and DJ work, D*Minds promotes RUN, a monthly event at Motion Ramp Park in Bristol. The night draws large crowds and is known internationally among DJs.
