DJ Samo is the project of Samuel Gionedis, who begins with piano in adolescence and performs in public auditions until the age of fourteen. In 2000, he turns to downbeat, which becomes his first focus in electronic music. He lives within chill-out culture and researches genres and artists before beginning to mix with friends who are already DJs.

Style and work

DJ Samo’s downbeat work draws on nu jazz, abstract hip hop and trip hop. He starts mixing professionally in 2007, when Beats Club invites him to play and he becomes the venue’s resident DJ. In his upbeat sets, he moves between tech-house and techno with a minimalist influence.
