DJ Brace
DJ Brace is a Winnipeg-born DJ, turntablist, producer and DJ instructor. Born in 1980, he begins his career in the early 2000s and develops a reputation through turntablism, production and teaching. He is active in Montreal and works on solo material while also collaborating with other artists.
Career and turntablism
Brace wins numerous turntablist battles, including the DMC Canadian Championship in 2004. His work spans DJ performance, production and instruction, and his career includes DJing for Roxanne Shante.
Releases and recordings
In 2005 he releases Soundbarriers, a self-titled LP made with prairie rapper Gruf the Druid. His debut solo album, Nostomania, wins the Juno Award for Best Instrumental Album of 2009. A 12-inch vinyl release on ESL Music includes a Brace remix. His music also appears on the Fox television series Prison Break, and he scores music for CBC Radio.
Collaborations
He collaborates in the studio with Brown Bag AllStars, Ancient Astronauts, Microthol and Birdapres.
