District 6

District 6 is a Guildford-based four-piece indie-rock band. Their music is described as dynamic and atmospheric, with comparisons drawn to Foals, Joy Division and Radiohead.

Releases and recordings

The band releases and records its debut album independently, with the album appearing at the end of 2011. The album is titled Take Off Your Blindfold and is entirely self-produced. It is available through the band and on digital platforms including iTunes and Amazon. A video is also released for The Weight Of The World.

Tracks associated with the band include Stay Close, which is playlisted by Leeds Student Radio for ten weeks, This Is Not A War, which receives its first radio play on Southern Counties Radio and appears in an Eagle Radio live session in acoustic form, and Life Is Beautiful, which is named by NME Breakthru as one of its tracks to listen to that week.

Live shows

District 6 appears on the main stage at Guilfest and is described as the youngest band to play that stage alongside acts including Razorlight, N-Dubz, Noisettes and Wretch 32. The band also headlines gigs in Guildford and in London’s Camden Town, including a sold-out show at Camden Barfly in 2010 and a headline appearance at the Dublin Castle in Camden in 2012. It also performs at O2 Academy 2 in Islington.
