Dirty Nice

Dirty Nice

Dirty Nice is a UK indie rock group formed by Charlie Pelling and Lisbon-based musician Mark Thompson. Pelling is also known for composing for the UK comedy scene, working with Sam Campbell, who wins the 2022 Edinburgh Comedy Award, and Jamie Demetriou, who wins a BAFTA and appears in Stath Lets Flats and Fleabag.

The project begins with music and then expands into cartoons, comedy and animation. Pelling and Thompson create their own animations and voice a range of eccentric characters, building a wider world around the band’s songs. Their online following grows across TikTok, Instagram and Reddit, where the material reaches hundreds of thousands of people.

Dirty Nice is associated with off-kilter melodies, classic songwriting and a playful, strange style. The band is described in terms such as whimsical, weird and mind-expanding, and its work sits between indie rock, alternative pop and comedy-led creative content.
