Dionysus

Dionysus is a German/Swedish power metal group active from 1999 to 2008. It is formed by drummer Ronny Milianowicz and vocalist Olaf Hayer, and its line-up includes Kaspar Dahlqvist, Magnus "Nobby" Noberg and Johnny Öhlin.

Formation and style

The band works in power metal and is described as a German/Swedish power metal act. Ronny Milianowicz comes from Sinergy and Olaf Hayer is also known for his work with Luca Turilli.

Albums and recording

The debut album, Sign of Truth, is recorded at Studio Fulda in 2002, a studio associated with work for Edguy and Avantasia. Tobias Sammet produces the album, and Tommy Newton handles the mix. Dionysus follows it with Anima Mundi, whose title means “the soul of the world” in Latin. The third album, Fairytales and Reality, is released in Europe in 2006.

Collaborations

Dionysus works closely with HammerFall singer Joacim Cans. Milianowicz contributes backing vocals to Legacy of Kings, while Cans writes the lyrics for “Bringer of Salvation” and “Bringer of War”. Milianowicz and Cans also work together on several projects, including the musical The Conspiracy.
