Dinamo

Dinamo is a ska group from Mallorca, Spain, formed in Alcudia in 2002. The group is made up of musicians from different cultural backgrounds and builds its sound from a mix of ska and Latin influences, with a strong Spanish-language presence.

Formation and lineup

The group is founded by Federico Fossati on guitar and vocals, Ezequiel Maqui on bass, and Valentin Tarin on drums. These members establish the band after musical careers in Argentina and Australia. After several line-up changes, Dinamo is joined by the Argentine Markus Herrada on keyboards, and by the Mallorcan musicians Jaume “Lolo” Cerda on trumpet and Juanan Tordadell on bass.

Style

Dinamo’s sound combines ska punk and Latin elements, drawing on what the group describes as a cosmopolitan energy. Its music also includes Eastern European influences, alongside an Italian-Rioplatense flavour and a more direct ska style.
