Dimitri from Paris is a French DJ and producer, born Dimitri Yerasimos in Istanbul in 1963. He works across house, downtempo, electronica, lounge and shibuya-kei.

Career

He begins his career as a DJ at Radio 7 in France, then moves to Skyrock and, in 1986, to NRJ. At NRJ, he introduces the first house music show broadcast in France. Alongside radio work, he produces runway soundtracks for fashion houses including Chanel, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Hermès and Yves Saint-Laurent.

Recordings

He issues two solo EPs between 1993 and 1994 and contributes to the Yellow Productions compilation La Yellow 357. His first full album, Sacrebleu, appears in 1996 and combines jazz, samba and house. The album sells 300,000 copies worldwide and is named Album of the Year by Mixmag.

He follows with A Night at the Playboy Mansion and Disco Forever in 2000, My Salsoul in 2001, After the Playboy Mansion in 2002 and Cruising Attitude in 2003.

Notable track

“Love Love Mode”, from Sacrebleu, becomes the basis for “Neko Mimi Mode” and “Tsuku Yomi Mode”, the opening themes for the anime Tsukuyomi Moonphase.
